CANTERBURY VILLAGE MEDIEVAL FAIRE

TWO weekends! June 1-2 and June 8-9, 2024 ALL AGES WELCOME!

Castle turrets and ramparts will be the backdrop for a wide range of entertainment as you stroll through this outdoor medieval adventure at Canterbury Village! Be entertained by ogres, musicians, jesters, magicians, fire breathers, the mad queen, strolling performers, and more – all set within the quaint, cobblestone-pathed Canterbury Village! With a REAL castle!

Come out and witness our medieval knight combatants enter into full-on battle to win the favor of our queen, Mary Queen of Scots! Take in the melodic tunes of our minstrels as they roam the lane. Gasp and cheer as fire eaters and lively dancers amaze you with their antics and perform hilarious shows.

Shop costuming, fine jewelry, chain mail creations, magical crystals, shining crowns, capes and cloaks, swords and shields, and other medieval wares at the vendor tents and village stores!

There will be plenty of activities for the entire family! Afterward, sit and enjoy a cold drink or a pint of ale or mead on the C-Pub patio – or grab a turkey leg! After all, no faire is complete without one!

Sorry, no. There are state laws that regulate outside food and drinks from entering licensed festival areas. We will provide plenty of opportunities to try great food and drink while you’re here!

Probably yes. Period weapons are allowed as long as they can be peace-tied. As guests enter the festival their weapons will be inspected for a peace-tie. Any unsecured weapon will be peace-tied by staff using heavy duty tie-wraps. Weapons that cannot be secured or are deemed inappropriate will not be allowed in the festival. Under no circumstances are real firearms (black powder or modern) allowed. Bows are fine, but please leave your real arrows at home. The same goes for purchased weapons which also need to be either peace tied or remain in their package.

Peace-tying a weapon keeps it from being used. As an example, a sword must be sheathed and the hilt of the sword must be peace-tied to the sheath so that it cannot be drawn. Arrows in a quiver must be peace-tied together and the bow unstrung. It is a simple process that helps ensure the safety of the guests.
